The 138th Open Golf Championship

The 138th Open Golf Championship
Thursday 16th - Sunday 19th July 2009
Turnberry

From it's humble beginnings at Prestwick in 1860, The Open has blossomed into one of the biggest events in World Sport and for 2009 the richest of the four Majors returns to Turnberry and it's World famous Ailsa Course. Having hosted the Open on three previous occasions, the setting for 1977's infamous "Duel in the Sun" is certainly one of the most beautiful and challenging of Open venues. But 2009 will have it's own stories to tell; with the 136th & 137th Open Champion Padriag Harrington bidding to become the first man to  win three Opens on the spin since Australia's Peter Thompson in 1956.
